How do your prices compare?

We encourage our prospective customers to compare our prices with other shops & home centers. Although we don't engage in head-to-head pricing battles, we find that our biggest competitors are not other custom cabinet shops, but are the large home centers that sell prefabricated cabinets. Through 40 years of experience in the cabinet making business, we are able to build a high quality, custom designed kitchen at about the same cost (and many times under) as a similar kitchen from a local home center. Of course it's important to compare 'apples to apples' as the cliche goes. We feel that whether we beat the home center's price or not, we always provide a better value and product than anyone else can. We invite you to come tour our shop, and inspect our product.

Do you give free estimates?

Yes! We try to get our estimates as close as possible, and that usually requires quite a bit of information about the proposed kitchen. Wood species, door style, hinge type, handles, interior color, counter tops, etc.. - all these variables can affect the price greatly. That is why we can't answer the question ..."how much do you charge per foot for your cabinets?". We take the time to 'get to know' your kitchen so that we can be as accurate as possible. However, if you are short on time and need a ballpark figure, we can do that to - just send or bring us the basic information.

Do you deliver?

Most kitchens we build are picked up at our shop near the Rapid City Regional Airport, however we can provide delivery service when needed. Not including a delivery charge is one of the ways we are able to keep our prices competitive with prefabricated cabinets. We have recently began directly serving the Gillette area, and we plan to include delivery as part of the overall cost package.

Do you install the cabinets?

Yes! If you are in need of an installer, we have a uniquely qualified installation team that can do the job for you. Proper cabinet installation can be a complicated and difficult task, depending on the conditions in the room. In a perfect world, screwing cabinets to the wall would be easy - however walls & floors are almost never straight & square. Your installer should employ proper scribe techniques to get the best possible fit of your new cabinets. The installation team from our shop are two of Don's sons, and they have a direct interest in ensuring the cabinets are installed correctly.

Do you help with the design of the kitchen?

Yes! We keep in mind that the best person to design your kitchen is you! We never push complicated & expensive design options on our clients. We start with the basics, and work our way up as need be. We enter your kitchen on our software, and provide you with elevations & 3D color pictures. Then you tell us what you like, and what you don't - and we keep changing it until it fits your ideal kitchen. If you find pictures in a magazine or at a friend's house, bring them in and we'll incorporate those ideas into your kitchen. You'll probably be working with more than one person from our shop. We each have different talents, experience, & ideas - and we try to use this diversity to get your kitchen 'right'. If you decide to hire a designer - no problem! We'll try to bring his/her vision to reality.

Do you do other cabinet work, such as entertainment centers?

Yes! Our specialty is building custom kitchens at non-custom prices, however we also build entertainment centers, gun cabinets, china cabinets, computer desks, book shelves, etc. We are a fully equipped custom cabinet shop and can do almost any project that is brought in. However, we don't attempt to compete with low quality products that you may find in home & discount stores. That being said, we still try to keep these types of projects as reasonably priced as possible.

Do you have a contractor's discount?

We have always strived for open & equal pricing for our customers, who ever they may be. Another way to look at it is we don't jack up prices for retail customers like 'discount' home centers do. We provide high quality cabinets at reasonable prices, and contractors are able to upcharge as they need to cover their time/expenses involved with the kitchen.

However, we recognize the need for contractors building spec homes to have low cost cabinets available to them. We are in the process of developing a 'contractor's line' of cabinets that should be a good option contractors & developers. We've been able to identify the most time consuming portions of cabinet making (angled cabinets, for example) and design a line of cabinets with those components removed. The contractor's line would still be high quality cabinets, but we'd use quicker techniques for their assembly. Custom components could still be added if necessary. The contractor's line is still a work-in-progress, so please contact us if you are interested in providing your customer's with a better option.

How long does it take to get cabinets? What is your lead time?

Our lead time varies, but typically we have 2-4 months of work in our schedule. We try to accommodate everyone, and get all the kitchens done on time. Obviously, the earlier we can get started on the process, the better. However, if you need to meet a tight schedule and you are ready to move to a final plan, we may be able to get it done in as little as one month. Please call so we can review your situation, and see if we can get you on the scheduling board.

 How do I get started?

Easy! Just give us a call, and we'll make an appointment to meet with you. Depending on circumstances, we can meet at your project location, or we'll have you come visit us at the shop. Bring your plans, pictures, drawings, etc.., and we'll try to conceptualize your ideas. Normally, the order evolves considerably from first contact to final plan, but we have to get started somewhere! You don't need to make all the decisions & choices at our first meeting - we will work with you to develop your plans into a kitchen that you will be happy with!
Appointments aren't required, but they are appreciated. Weekend and evening appointments are available - please call ahead to be sure that there is someone at the shop to help you.

Did you guys have a fire?

No. That was Dan's Custom Cabinets near Cambell Street. One of Dan's employees was very seriously burned, and our hearts went out to the man & his family. It was very sobering to see such a terrible thing happen to a long standing business in our field, and we hope the best for Dan.
